Cellular Towers – Providing Fiber Optic Solutions

Posted by Comlink Solutions

Over the past several years Comlink Midwest has been working on cellular sites (FTTCS) by providing fiber optic solutions for cellular service providers in order to increase subscriber bandwidth, including 4G speeds. In the beginning of 2010 many of us began to notice the competition heating up between cellular providers. Smart phones have been taking over the cellular market with over 30% of the population using them. The applications are ever changing and the demand for more bandwidth is multiplying. Cell phone tower upgrades and new tower expansion has been something that we, at Comlink Midwest, have been consistently working on.

Over the past twenty years, Comlink Midwest has been providing local, regional, and national customers with quality installed voice and data cabling systems. Our mission is to be a premier fiber optic / communications cabling company by providing quality products and services that are tailored to meet and exceed customer expectations. We accomplish this by recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining the best possible talent available. We also strive to meet and exceed employee and shareowner expectations.

Comlink Midwest has substantial experience working on both the public and private side of these cell towers in order to establish a fiber optic connection that allows the towers to provide higher speeds of bandwidth and services such as 4G LTE. Comlink Midwest acquires only the best in fiber optic splicing, terminating, and testing equipment in order to provide the best fiber connectivity possible. The fiber optic splicing occurs at a tie in point which is where the connection is made to an existing fiber optic ring and then at the physical tower.

Some of these cell towers are not always the typical cell tower that you see when driving down a rural highway. Some cell towers are built on top of water towers and some are on top of buildings such as apartment buildings, commercial buildings, and parking ramps.

The final step in providing a quality installed fiber optic connection is to test and document continuity with an OTDR and Power Meter test units. This information is included in the post completion packet as part of the final project as-builds. Comlink Midwest combines unparalleled customer service with industry expertise to offer our customers the most effective solutions possible. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. This is continually demonstrated by our consultative approach from beginning to end. As a customer, you can trust that our quality of work and communication throughout will exceed your expectations.
