2019 Governor’s Safety Award – Meritorious Achievement

We are thrilled to have been awarded for excellence in workplace safety and health during the Governor’s Safety Awards recognition ceremony on May 8, 2019 at the Mystic Lake Center. It was part of the 85th annual Minnesota Safety & Health Conference coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council.
The Minnesota Safety Council was founded in 1928 and is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Minnesota by preventing unintentional injuries or illness. This non-profit helps businesses develop safety programs and strives to keep workers safe. The Minnesota Safety & Health Conference is one of the oldest and largest gathering of workplace safety and health professionals in the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and northern regions.
Safety is a high priority at Comlink Midwest. Governor’s Safety Award Levels
Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with national statistics relative to their industry and their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program. Winners are recognized at three levels:
- Award of Honor: Incidence rates at least 91 percent better than the industry average and a score between 91 and 100 on the safety program evaluation scale, which is based largely on each company’s own employees’ feedback.
- Outstanding Achievement: Continuing improvement and/or furtherance of an already outstanding record with incident rates 51 percent to 90 percent better than the industry average and a score between 75 and 90 on the safety program evaluation scale.
- Meritorious Achievement: Incidence rates better than the industry average for at least three years and a score between 50 and 74 on a 100-point safety program evaluation scale.
“Every day in Minnesota, about 100 workers get injured or become ill to the point they can’t return to their job the following day,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Comlink Midwest and their employees are to be commended for ensuring they are not part of this statistic. Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance.”
Comlink Midwest received the Meritorious Achievement Award for exemplary workplace safety efforts in 2018 and is on track to continue its march toward Outstanding Achievement and, ultimately, the Award of Honor among the best in industry.

We are very happy to announce that Comlink Midwest has received the Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for excellence in workplace health and safety for the second consecutive year . It was awarded as part of the 2020 MN Safety & Health Conference on October 19 and 20. Due to COVID-19, the event was held virtually this year, and the Minnesota Safety Council teamed up with the South Dakota Safety Council to provide this live experience online. About the Governor’s Workplace Safety Award Applicants must submit workplace accident/injury data for the previous three years to be compared with national statistics relative to their industry. Along with this information, judges will assess the company’s progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program to determine if they will receive an award or not.
